The most important European fair for Spanish books. This year open to the general public. Offers especially smaller publishers an opportunity to get in touch with Latin American customers. Timed exactly before the Frankfurt Book Fair to make it attractive to those who come from outside Europe and want to visit both events.
Coinciding with the opening of the fair, the industry body published the figures on 2013 booksales in Spain: total sales amounted to 2,807 MEUR, a decline of 9.7% in comparison to 2012. A total of 76,434 titles were published with an average edition of 3,223 copies. There was a total of 524,213 titles available (in print). Cheap paperbacks, the preferred edition of this blogger, saw a reduction to 4,099 titles (-14.7% compared to 2012).
