Snippet: Vergílio Ferreira prize to Lídia Jorge

The Portuguese author Lídia Jorge (Algarve, 1946; Wikipedia) has been the winner of this year’s Vergílio Ferreira [writer, Wikipedia] literary prize, awarded annually by the University of Évora to honour an author’s lifetime achievement in Portuguese narrative and/or essay.

Jorge recently won the “Portuguese-Spanish Arts and Culture prize 2014” (post), and she published a new novel in the fall of 2014 (post).

Amazon lists The Murmuring Coast and The Painter of Birds as available in English.
